Margins

The holidays are over and the kids are back in school. For many of us that means getting back into a more regular routine. As that routine begins to take shape, I continue to remind myself to create margins on my “to do” list.

The margins on this page make the copy look neat and easy to read. Imagine what it would look like if the words just ran off the page, sentence after sentence? Would you even want to read it? Sometimes I feel my life reaching that point. The “to do” list escalates to the point that I feel like I’m running off the page and the more I try to do the more disorderly things become.

When I create margins on my “to do list,” I give myself breathing room to enjoy the moment. I give myself time to check in with God to be sure my “to do list” is the one He has in mind for me today. What a difference that makes! My spirit soars much higher, my family enjoys my company a lot more, and the page of life is much cleaner and easier to read. I encourage you to build margins into your day. Take a moment today to focus on and savor the important things in life and thank God for them.
